What is this website?

I created this website to host pictures I take. I use hugo static site generator for this website.

What camera are you using?

I have a bunch of random old digital cameras and I use my samsung galaxy S26+ phone. You can hover over any image and it will say which camera I used. Let me know if you recommend a camera. I’m always looking for a new digital camera setup. Let me know what you are using?

How do I get updates about new posts?

I will post updates in discord in site-annoucements channel under mininpics.org catagory.

Why make another picture/camera site? Why not just use site XYZ?

As far as I can tell no other picture site out there lets me host super high res pictures for very cheap. Storage + RAM pricing is also out of control right now. I also spent a bunch of time optimizing the front end to load very quickly both on mobile and slower networks. Images and html have a lazy load features and very efficient thumbnails/images.

This website is very well optimized for both mobile and desktop web browsers. Please be careful clicking into the pictures or clicking the blue arrow. This will open a new tab with with the high res jpg image. These images can be upwards of 25MB per file. If you do not have unlimited mobile data you should NOT be clicking these jpg files. This is why these images are behind an auth system. Read below to get access.

Will I open this to the public?

I am not sure. There is much more to consider if you have a public website where people can upload images. You have to worry about an entire approval system for photos and who moderates this? If I 100% trust you I might make a pipeline for friends/family to create/make their own site/blog like this. I really like the front end is generated and runs on a very simple infrastucture stack at this time. Once you start to add authentication, uploading images, databases, web frameworks, etc things become much more complicated. I would rather spend time on features/updates vs tech debt. If I had 2-3 people to help out on a project like this that might change things. Let me know if you are interested in working on something like this. How do I get access to the jpg files?

Please join to the discord server here and request access in the #jpg-access-requests channel in the minipics.org catagory. I will DM you your own account that will be unique for you. Please do not share this account with anyone and keep it secure. Please allow 24-72 hours for me to respond to these requests as well. The other reason I do this is to save on bandwidth.
